Bangkok Tops List with Over 800,000 Registered Voters for Advanced Voting in Upcoming Thai Election

Over 2.3 million registered voters in Thailand have chosen to exercise their voting rights through advanced polling in the forthcoming general election. Bangkok has recorded the highest number of registrations with over 800,000 people planning to cast their ballots early on May 7, a week before the general election on May 14.

The Election Commission (EC) has reported a total of 2,350,969 voters registered for advanced voting. The advanced polling is scheduled for May 7, and 74 polling stations have been designated for the purpose across the country. Bangkok has the highest number of registered voters for advance polling, and the Ramkhamhaeng University polling station in the city is expected to witness the highest turnout with 52,000 people registered for advanced voting.

Apart from the Ramkhamhaeng University polling station, other polling stations with a significant number of registered voters for advanced polling include the Royal Paragon Hall with 40,000 registered voters and the Huai Kwang district office with 28,000 registered voters. Other polling stations with high numbers of registered voters include the Bang Khen district office, the Thai-Japanese Stadium, the Lat Krabang district office, the Bang Na district office, and the Chandra Rajabhat University.

In the meantime, the Seri Ruam Thai Party has asked the EC to address the concerns regarding the upcoming election. The party has urged the EC to clarify doubts and delays in document deliveries and provide details on the number of overseas voters to ensure transparency in the election process.

The advanced polling has been implemented to make it easier for people to vote and avoid congestion at polling stations on election day. It is expected to encourage more voters to participate in the election process, and the EC hopes for a higher turnout in the general election. The EC has assured the public that all necessary precautions have been taken to ensure a smooth and fair election process.
