Thailand is gearing up for its upcoming early voting and Election Day next month, and authorities are taking measures to ensure that the process runs smoothly. One such measure is a ban on alcohol sales and distribution throughout the country during the two voting days.
To prevent any unnecessary incidents or complications, the ban will be in effect from 6:00 PM on May 6 until 6:00 PM on May 7, and from 6:00 PM on May 13 until 6:00 PM on May 14. It is applicable to everyone living in the country, and violators could face a prison sentence of six months or a fine of up to 10,000 baht, or both.
In addition to the ban on alcohol sales, authorities are urging voters to familiarize themselves with the rules and regulations for the upcoming election to avoid unintentional violations. Some of these rules include refraining from photographing marked ballot papers or taking ballot papers out of the voting station.
Furthermore, officials have issued a stern warning against other illegal activities such as buying or selling votes, purposely destroying ballot papers, or preventing eligible voters from casting their ballots. Those who violate the law will face harsh penalties.
The authorities have emphasized that the measures are in place to ensure a fair and peaceful election process, and they are urging all citizens to comply with the rules and regulations. With these measures in place, Thailand hopes to have a successful and trouble-free election season.
