The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is taking a proactive approach to protect high-risk individuals from the severe effects of Covid-19. In order to prevent severe symptoms and fatality, the BMA is offering free Covid-19 booster shots to people who fall into high-risk categories.
Dr. Anutra Chittinandana, chairman of the Royal College of Physicians of Thailand and an adviser to the Bangkok governor, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that it is vital for high-risk individuals such as those over 60 years old, pregnant women, and patients with chronic conditions to get their booster shots as soon as possible.
To make the process easier, the BMA has opened a vaccination center at Public Health Service Center 6 in the Dusit district, which is exclusively providing free booster shots for high-risk groups. Furthermore, individuals who have not yet received their initial vaccine dose are encouraged to visit public health service centers across Bangkok every Wednesday from 9 AM to 3 PM to receive their vaccination for free.
In addition, the BMA has launched a mobile vaccination unit to cater to individuals who are unable to travel to health centers. The unit is located at the Atrium zone of the CentralWorld department store and will operate from noon to 6 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, from April 28 to May 28 (except during the election weekend of May 13-14).
Those interested in obtaining more information about these vaccination services can visit the BMA’s Facebook page at facebook.com/bma.health. It is important to note that vaccination is the most effective way to protect oneself from Covid-19 and that these efforts by the BMA are aimed at ensuring the safety of all individuals in the community.
