Mr. Pitha Limcharoen, the leader of the Progressive Party and the Prime Minister, joined the press conference for The Road to Bangkok Pride 2023 campaign. Their aim is to push for Bangkok to become the host city for the World Pride Parade, a globally recognized event for diverse gender groups, in the year 2571.
“Today, we are joining hands and hearts with the new government and the city of Bangkok to bring the global event, World Pride, to our capital in 2028, following Sydney, Washington, D.C., and Amsterdam,” stated the Prime Minister.
In addition to this, Mr. Pitha believes that the period of celebration for the diverse gender groups should not be limited to just the month of June, known as Pride Month, but rather it should be Pride Always.
Mr. Pitha further emphasized that their participation in this event is not only a cause for celebration, but also an opportunity to communicate with the public that Bangkok Pride will take place on June 4th.
The leader of the Progressive Party continued, emphasizing that the significance of Bangkok Pride goes beyond economic and tourism factors. This event also serves as a means to raise awareness in society about equality, dignity, and the equal rights and freedoms of all citizens.
