In a collaborative effort, the government and Bangkok Hospital have unveiled a new initiative aimed at equipping young individuals from Thailand’s southern border provinces with Arabic language proficiency.
Deputy Government Spokesperson, Ratchada Thanadirek, announced that this project aligns with the government’s strategy to enhance skills and employability, particularly in the Middle East’s tourism, medical, and export industries.
Ratchada emphasized the growing demand for individuals proficient in Arabic due to the strong ties between Thailand and the Middle East. With the country’s foreign policy focusing on Middle Eastern nations, this demand is expected to surge in the coming years.
Recognizing the importance of private sector involvement, the government sought the partnership of Bangkok Hospital, renowned for serving a significant number of Arab patients. The hospital’s extensive experience and exposure to the Arabic language and culture make it an ideal platform to nurture the language skills of young trainees while providing invaluable real-world work experience.
Expressing enthusiasm for the project, Bangkok Hospital has established an “Arabic Language Internship Program” specifically designed for students. To streamline operations, the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center will act as the primary coordinator, working closely with universities in Pattani, Narathiwat, Yala, and Fatoni, as well as the Southern Private School Association and representatives from the Arab world.
The center’s responsibilities include coordinating the selection process for interested youth, ensuring a smooth and efficient program. Additionally, they will evaluate the outcomes of the initiative to refine its approach and foster further collaboration with other private sector entities. This collaboration aims to expand opportunities for young individuals and meet the growing human resource demands in the business sector.
This joint effort between the government and Bangkok Hospital holds immense promise in empowering the youth from Thailand’s southern border provinces, equipping them with valuable Arabic language skills and opening doors to prosperous future careers.
