Tottenham vs. Leicester Friendly Match Cancelled: SAT Issues Apology for Heavy Rainfall

The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) issued an official apology in response to the cancellation of the highly anticipated friendly match between Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City at Rajamangala Stadium on Sunday, July 23.

The pre-season match was suspended due to heavy rainfall that resulted in the flooding of the stadium’s pitch. The unexpected downpour raised public criticism of the SAT’s preparations for the event and raised concerns about the stadium’s capability to host major sporting events.

In their statement, the SAT clarified that all preparations for the match had been thoroughly evaluated and approved by the management teams of both football clubs. The stadium was affirmed to meet international standards for hosting such an event. However, the unprecedented heavy rain on the day of the match caused the pitch to become flooded, posing a safety risk for the players, leading to the regrettable decision to cancel the game.

The SAT extended its heartfelt apologies to all the fans who had purchased tickets and traveled to the stadium with excitement to watch the match. Both football clubs, Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City, also expressed their regret for being unable to play in front of their devoted fans and supporters.

Despite the disappointment of the cancellation, the SAT remains committed to ensuring that future events at Rajamangala Stadium and other venues under their jurisdiction are well-prepared and equipped to handle any unforeseen circumstances, ensuring the best possible experience for fans and players alike.
