Prime Minister Visits Nong Bon Lake Park Upgrade

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, accompanied by key government officials, visited Nong Bon Lake Park in Prawet district on May 25, 2024, to evaluate the progress of its transformation into a metropolitan park.

The project aims to merge Nong Bon Lake Sports Center Park with Suan Luang Rama IX Park, creating a vast urban green space spanning over 1,144 rai. This initiative is part of a broader campaign to establish 72 Pocket Parks throughout Bangkok, intended to expand green areas for residents and commemorate His Majesty the King’s 72nd birthday on July 28.

During his visit, Prime Minister Srettha praised the ongoing developments at Nong Bon Lake Park, emphasizing its contributions to recreational opportunities and environmental conservation. He highlighted the park’s role in improving air quality by reducing PM2.5 pollution and stressed the importance of completing the project swiftly for public benefit.

The prime minister also participated in a tree-planting ceremony, adding 10 new trees to the park’s landscape. He and his team toured the park’s facilities, designed to support a variety of public activities, including sports and leisure.

The 72 Pocket Parks initiative aims to ensure that residents have convenient access to green spaces, with each park located within 800 meters or a 10-15 minute walk from local communities. This project is expected to enhance the urban landscape and improve the quality of life for Bangkok residents.

In addition to Prime Minister Srettha, the event was attended by several officials and dignitaries, who supported the project’s goals and underscored its significance for the community’s well-being.
