Lumpini Expressway Toll Booth Opens Mid-July to Ease Traffic

The Expressway Authority of Thailand (CAT) announced that in mid-July 2024, the Lumpini Expressway will commence operations as a toll booth on the Chalerm Mahanakhon Expressway. This new toll booth aims to alleviate traffic congestion during peak hours by connecting the Chalerm Mahanakhon Expressway with Wireless Road and Rama IV Road.

Residents of the Bong Kai community and neighboring areas will benefit from this development as they can access the expressway via Pakchit Road. The Lumpini checkpoint will feature a total of four toll lanes: two for MTC (cash) transactions and two for ETC (Easy Pass) transactions. Special toll rates have been set at 50 Baht for four-wheeled vehicles, 75 Baht for six to ten-wheeled vehicles, and higher for vehicles with more than ten wheels. Additionally, the checkpoint will offer Easy Pass Fast Service, visitor parking, and restroom facilities.

Access to the Lumpini checkpoint can be achieved through two routes: directly from Wireless Road to Soi Sanam Khli (Soi Polo) or from Rama IV Road via Soi Pakchit. For travelers coming from Bangna-Tha Ruea and heading to Din Daeng, the Chalerm Mahanakhon Expressway can be accessed at the Lumpini checkpoint, with an option to turn left towards Rama IV Road through Soi Pakchit 1.

The opening of this toll booth is expected to significantly improve traffic flow in the area. Various officials and community leaders attended the announcement event, highlighting the collaborative effort to enhance urban mobility.
