Gas Explosion in Suphan Buri Injures Several, Firefighters Struggle

On July 11, 2024, a gas explosion at a refueling station in Doem Bang Nang Boat District of Suphan Buri province resulted in several injuries. Firefighters have been battling the fire for over two hours, but continuous explosions have hampered their efforts to bring it under control.

The explosion occurred around 1:30 PM, sparking a massive fire. According to witnesses, the blaze started from a leaking valve on a gas tanker carrying five tonnes of gas. The leaked gas ignited, causing the tanker to explode. The driver of the gas tanker suffered severe burns and was rushed to the hospital. The truck was completely destroyed in the blast.

Emergency responders from the Suphan Buri Samoekan Rescue Foundation quickly arrived at the scene following an emergency call. Several individuals sustained burn injuries and have been hospitalized. However, authorities have not yet confirmed if there are any fatalities.

The gas refueling station is located near a petrol station and residential areas, raising concerns about potential further damage. Firefighters are still working to contain the fire, and explosions continue to be heard intermittently.

Local authorities have urged residents to stay clear of the area to avoid further injuries. A full investigation into the cause of the explosion is underway, and additional details will be provided as they become available.

Officials and local leaders are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with disaster relief units to manage the aftermath and ensure the safety of the community.
