Anutin Charnvirakul Downplays Significance of Leaked Audio Clip

On September 11, 2024, Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, addressed concerns over a leaked audio clip that has surfaced in the media. The clip, which allegedly discusses official appointments and position requests, has been dismissed by Anutin as an outdated issue with no current relevance.

Anutin, who also leads the Bhumjaithai Party, responded to the leaked audio during a parliamentary session, acknowledging its circulation but downplaying its significance. He described the clip, aired on the TV program “Jaorok Thua Thai” Inside Thailand, as old and irrelevant.

According to Anutin, the audio was unclear during his initial review, and he required a quieter environment to assess it properly. He emphasized that there are no current practices of position trading or other related activities, asserting that the clip pertains to past discussions rather than present-day affairs.

When questioned about the possibility of the clip being part of a political vendetta, Anutin refrained from speculation, suggesting that those without a direct connection to the issue should avoid involvement. He indicated that he may seek further consultations before forming a definitive opinion on the matter.

The audio reportedly mentions discussions about the Prime Minister’s position and the resignation of a party leader, but Anutin dismissed these as issues that no longer hold weight in the current political landscape.
