Tee Lor Su Waterfall Viewing Area Collapses Due to Rain

On September 21, 2024, heavy rains led to a significant collapse at Tee Lor Su Waterfall in Tak Province, resulting in the destruction of the viewing platform and photo spots. Mr. Manoch Phothiam, the Umphang District Chief, reported that officials from the Umphang Wildlife Sanctuary notified him of the incident, which occurred around 11:00 a.m. The collapse took place in the same area that had experienced structural failure in 1996.

The ongoing heavy rainfall, which persisted throughout the night and into the morning, is believed to be the primary cause of this latest collapse. Currently, officials from the Umphang Wildlife Sanctuary are assessing the full extent of the damage to determine necessary repairs and safety measures.

As a precautionary measure, the area surrounding Tee Lor Su Waterfall will remain closed until it is deemed safe for visitors. This viewing area had been funded by Tak Province to enhance tourist access and safety. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops and assessments are completed.
