Police in Phang Nga Province have successfully located and rescued a 12-year-old girl, Nong Sompoi, who had been missing for 17 days. The child, who disappeared from her home in Takua Pa District on the night of October 5, 2024, was found safe in Phuket. A 64-year-old man has been arrested in connection with her abduction.
After Sompoi’s disappearance, local authorities, including police officers and district administration staff, launched an extensive search. Surveillance footage and tips from the community played a crucial role in tracking her whereabouts. On October 22, police officers from Takua Pa, in coordination with officers from Phuket, located Sompoi in Kamala Subdistrict, Phuket Province, where she had been held by the suspect for over two weeks.


Authorities acted swiftly after confirming Sompoi’s location. She was recovered without injury and brought to safety, while the suspect was arrested and taken to Kamala Police Station for questioning. He is expected to face charges in Takua Pa, where further legal proceedings will take place.
Sompoi’s relatives expressed their deep relief and gratitude upon hearing the news. Her aunt, Ms. Kotchaphan Hanwan, conveyed her heartfelt thanks to the local police, officials, and social media users who helped spread awareness and contributed to her niece’s rescue.

District Chief Siwat Rawangkun and village leaders had been actively involved in the search efforts alongside police, demonstrating the community’s commitment to finding the missing girl. Their coordination with multiple agencies played a vital role in bringing the case to a positive resolution.
