Foreign Man Detained After Street Incident in Chiang Khan

A foreign national was taken into custody by Chiang Khan police on the evening of Sunday, June 15, after allegedly riding a motorcycle erratically while wielding a stick and attempting to strike pedestrians along Sri Chiang Khan Road in Loei Province.

According to local police, three patrol officers from Chiang Khan Police Station responded to reports of a man exhibiting aggressive behavior near the popular tourist area. The individual was reportedly riding a motorcycle back and forth along the road while swinging a stick in a threatening manner, causing alarm among nearby residents and visitors.

Police quickly intervened, apprehending the man without reported injuries. Authorities suspect that his erratic actions may have been influenced by drug use. The suspect was transported to Chiang Khan Police Station, where officers worked to calm him and administered a drug screening as part of the standard investigation procedure.

The man’s identity and nationality have not been released pending further inquiry. Authorities have yet to confirm whether charges will be filed.

Local police emphasized their ongoing commitment to maintaining public safety, particularly in areas frequented by tourists.
