Thailand Launches Campaign to Promote Local Products Abroad

Thailand has launched a new campaign titled From Local to Global aimed at expanding the reach of locally made Thai products into international markets. The initiative, unveiled on 17 June 2025 in Bangkok, marks a coordinated effort to connect community-based producers with global buyers through diplomatic and commercial channels.

The campaign will initially focus on five international cities—Moscow, Riyadh, London, Astana, and Osaka—where Thai embassies and consulates will play a central role in facilitating trade. The program is designed to help local entrepreneurs, particularly women-led groups and artisans involved in the One Tambon, One Product (OTOP) scheme and Women’s Development Fund, gain exposure through trade fairs, cultural festivals, and business-matching events. Online platforms will also be used to support the export of Thai-made goods.

By integrating traditional craftsmanship with modern design elements, the campaign aims to position Thai products to better meet international consumer demands. The move forms part of Thailand’s broader strategy to leverage economic diplomacy and cultural soft power to enhance trade and visibility for local communities.

The launch event featured an exhibition, From Local to Global: Connecting Thai Communities to the World, showcasing high-quality products from OTOP producers and women’s groups nationwide. These items will be part of the Thai Festival and related business activities in London later in June—marking the first overseas activation of the initiative. Senior government officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Commerce, and the Creative Economy Agency were in attendance.
