A 43-year-old Australian tourist was found dead in a massage parlor on Koh Samui in the early morning of July 7, shortly after receiving an oil massage and falling asleep. Local police are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death.
Police from Bo Phut Station in Surat Thani province responded to a report around 7:00 a.m. that day regarding the death of a foreign national at a massage parlor in Bo Phut subdistrict. The deceased was later identified as Christopher, a resident of Brisbane, Australia. An autopsy is being conducted by doctors from Koh Samui Hospital.
According to statements provided by a 47-year-old masseuse named Premyupa, the man arrived at the establishment at around 12:10 a.m., alone and barefoot. He requested a traditional Thai oil massage, paid the 400 baht fee in full, and asked to rest on the bed afterward. She left him to attend to other customers and later reported hearing him snoring around 4:00 a.m.
The massage parlor contains four adjacent rooms on the second floor, each measuring approximately two by three meters and fitted with individual massage beds. Christopher was found unresponsive in one of these rooms, lying diagonally on the bed with both legs hanging toward the floor and his glasses still on.
Premyupa said she attempted to wake the man around 6:20 a.m. and, upon finding him unconscious, alerted other staff and called emergency services. Medical personnel who arrived at the scene confirmed he had already passed away.
Police said preliminary findings suggest Christopher had been staying nearby with his wife, but had visited the massage parlor alone. Further details will depend on the outcome of the medical examination.
