Thailand and Vietnam Forge Stronger Cooperation in Combating Transnational Crime

In a bid to strengthen their collaboration in combating transnational crime, Thailand’s police force has dispatched a delegation to Vietnam. The purpose of this visit was to engage in discussions with their Vietnamese counterparts, focusing on enhancing mutual efforts in preventing and suppressing criminal activities that transcend national borders. The exchange of relevant information between the two nations is expected to yield significant improvements in their respective law enforcement operations.

The meeting took place in Hanoi, where Royal Thai Police Assistant Commissioner, Pol. Lt. Gen. Prachaub Wongsuk, met with Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, along with the chief of Vietnam’s Department of International Cooperation. The primary objective was to share insights and experiences related to the suppression of transnational crime and the issue of illegal entry. This marked the second occasion on which the two countries had engaged in such an exchange, underscoring the growing importance they place on combating this grave concern.

During the discussions, both parties presented noteworthy achievements stemming from the collaborative efforts between Thailand and Vietnam. Notable accomplishments included successes in preventing and suppressing human trafficking, as well as efforts to curb illegal entry into both nations. Such accomplishments underscored the effectiveness of the bilateral cooperation in tackling various forms of criminal activity.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Prachuab emphasized that transnational crime has become increasingly intricate, posing a significant and evolving threat that imperils the security, economy, and society of nations worldwide. Recognizing the magnitude of this menace, he stressed the urgent need for regional security agencies to intensify their cooperation in preventing and suppressing transnational crime. By doing so, nations within the region, as well as their citizens, can be safeguarded from the detrimental consequences of these criminal activities.

The visit to Vietnam serves as a testament to Thailand’s commitment to regional security and the establishment of a robust network to combat transnational crime. As both countries continue to share crucial information and work collectively in this domain, it is hoped that their collaborative efforts will yield even more significant achievements in the future.
