BANGKOK – Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, together with his deputy governors, convened a press conference marking their two-year tenure, themed “2 Years of Work: Changing, Improving, and Upgrading the Livable City.” This event, held at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre in Pathumwan district on May 28, served as a platform to reflect on past achievements and outline future endeavors.

Over the past two years, significant strides have been made to enhance the livability of Bangkok. Governor Chadchart highlighted the initiatives aimed at fostering flexibility and efficiency in addressing civic concerns, thereby enhancing the overall well-being of residents.
One notable achievement highlighted was the “Traffy Fondue” program, which streamlined complaint resolution processes, leading to the successful resolution of 78% of the total 588,842 complaints received. Additionally, substantial improvements have been made to sidewalks, making them more durable and accessible to all, including individuals with disabilities and the elderly.

Efforts to organize street vendors and optimize communication infrastructure have further contributed to the city’s vibrancy and functionality. Moreover, advancements in technology, such as the implementation of LED lighting connected to an IoT system, have bolstered public safety and convenience.
Addressing longstanding challenges like flooding and transportation, the administration has undertaken comprehensive measures, including extensive drainage system maintenance and flood prevention initiatives ahead of the rainy season.

Furthermore, the expansion of public spaces, recreational facilities, and healthcare services underscores the commitment to enhancing the quality of life for Bangkok residents. Transparency and accountability have been prioritized through measures to combat corruption and improve public service delivery.
Looking ahead, Governor Chadchart emphasized a collaborative approach to further develop Bangkok as a model metropolis. While acknowledging achievements, he also acknowledged room for improvement, rating his administration’s performance at 5 out of 10 and emphasizing the importance of public feedback in gauging citizen satisfaction.
