Lopburi Provinceโ€™s famed โ€œfloating trainโ€ launched a special weekend service, drawing numerous tourists to experience the stunning waterscapes at Pasak Jolasid Dam. Organized by the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the service offers a unique visual spectacle as the train appears to glide atop the water along a track extending over the dam.

The 14-car train, accommodating 1,200 passengers per trip, departs from Bangkokโ€™s Hua Lamphong Station and reaches Pasak Jolasid Dam, with service every Saturday and Sunday through January 2025, except during New Year holidays. The tour aims to boost domestic tourism, create jobs, and support local economies.

Highlights of the journey include a 20-minute stop for photos at the dam viewpoint, providing a rare opportunity to capture panoramic views of the reservoir, and a 30-minute pause at Ban Khok Salung Station where visitors can shop for local OTOP products. Before returning to Bangkok, travelers also explore Lopburiโ€™s first sunflower field, adding a vibrant end to the scenic journey.

This elevated track, part of the Bangkok-Bua Yai-Nong Khai railway, was originally designed for connectivity across the Pasak River. Later, King Rama IX transformed the area into Pasak Jolasid Dam, both a reservoir and a scenic rail route that appears to float above water.

Tickets can be booked nationwide through the SRTโ€™s D-Ticket system or at stations, with group bookings available for private carriage rentals.
