Government Pushes for Faster Bolt Registration Process

The Ministry of Transport has engaged in discussions with Bolt to accelerate the registration of its riders in accordance with the Department of Land Transport (DLT) standards. The move aims to enhance safety and ensure affordability across the platform.

Following the meeting, Deputy Permanent Secretary Sorapong Paitoonphong stated that Bolt has agreed to update its registration procedures, particularly regarding vehicle requirements and the mandatory issuance of public driving licenses for riders. The DLT also urged Bolt to expedite the registration process for previously enlisted drivers to improve compliance and road safety.

A key concern raised was the risk of accidents caused by riders working under high pressure and tight schedules. Authorities stressed the need for measures that prioritize rider and passenger safety.

Eirini Zefeiratou, Vice President of Global Public Policy and Legal Affairs at Bolt, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to meeting legal requirements. She stated that riders must upload the necessary documents by the end of the month or face account suspension. Bolt also pledged to adapt its regulations as needed to align with public expectations and enhance service quality.

The meeting was attended by senior transport officials and Bolt representatives, who discussed ways to improve the platform’s regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
