Security Guard Killed, E-Cigarettes Stolen in Brazen Bangkok Customs Heist

Thai authorities are investigating a deadly robbery that took place early Monday morning (June 2, 2025) at the Customs Department’s secure warehouse at Khlong Toei port, where a group of six men allegedly stole a large quantity of confiscated e-cigarettes and killed a security guard during their escape.

According to CCTV footage, the robbery occurred around 1:00 a.m. The suspects used bolt cutters to break into five locked cargo containers holding impounded vaping products. After loading the goods into a van, they attempted to flee the scene.

The sole security guard on duty, identified only as “Boonnark,” spotted the heist in progress and pursued the suspects on his motorcycle. In a tragic turn, the van driver reversed at high speed, ramming into Boonnark’s bike and killing him instantly before fleeing the area.

Police have arrested one suspect, who was found with some of the stolen items. He claims he was unaware the goods were stolen.

Authorities describe the robbery as the first of its kind at a Thai customs facility and are continuing the manhunt for the remaining suspects. The stolen items are believed to be part of a recent series of crackdowns on illegal vape distribution networks.

The investigation is ongoing.
