Bangkok Launches Sukhumvit Patrols to Boost Tourist Safety

Deputy Interior Minister Thirat Samrejvanich officiated a ceremony on July 7, 2025, to inaugurate expanded security patrols in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit district, a well-known hotspot for international tourists. The launch marks a new phase in government efforts to bolster public safety and manage urban order in one of the capital’s busiest commercial zones.

The patrols are intended to deter crime, enforce regulations, and alleviate chronic traffic congestion. The initiative is part of the broader “Sukhumvit Model” Sandbox project, which unites the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), Metropolitan Police Bureau, and multiple partner agencies in a coordinated push for area-wide improvements.

The launch event was held at Nana Plaza on Sukhumvit Soi 4 and extended along the Sukhumvit corridor in Khlong Toei District. Authorities said the enhanced patrols aim to create a safer and more orderly environment for both tourists and local residents.

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt and Deputy Metropolitan Police Commander Pol. Lt. Col. Nopasil Poonsawat were among officials present at the event, signaling high-level commitment to the initiative.
